Bakery member sentenced in CA kidnap, torture case

OAKLAND, Calif. - A member of Your Black Muslim Bakery has been ordered to serve 10 years in prison for his role in the May 2007 kidnapping of a mother and daughter and subsequent torture of the daughter.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that 24-year-old Yusef Bey V was sentenced in Alameda County court Friday as part of a plea deal in which he pleaded guilty to kidnapping.

Authorities say Bey V and several other members of the now-defunct bakery pulled over the women in Oakland in a car resembling a police cruiser and then took them to an abandoned home.

The men allegedly tortured the daughter in an attempt to discover where a friend of hers hid drug money.

Two defendants, including former bakery leader Yusef Bey IV, are still awaiting trial.
